Read the Bible and pray with your mate daily. Have daily family altar. “The family that prays together stays together.” (Ephesians 5:25-33)
Accept the fact that your mate has weakness- Romans 3:23.
Focus on the good qualities in your mate (Philippians 4:8). Make a list of the good (1 Thessalonians 5:18) and compliment them for this quality.
Admit when you are wrong and apologize. (1 Peter 5:5-6)
Verbalize your love and show affection in public. (Ephesians 4:30-32). Don’t be ashamed to discreetly show affection publicly.Never criticize your mate publicly. (Matthew 18:15)
Plan your budget together and stick to it: Put God first in finances. (Matthew 6:33; Malachi 3:8-10). Get out of debt and stay out. (Philippians 4:19; Romans 13:8)
Expect God to improve your mate (Psalm 138:8). It can get better with passing of time.
Don’t go to bed with unresolved conflicts. (Ephesians 4:26; Hebrews 12:15)
Don’t discuss personal problems with others. If counselor is utilized, be sure to have mate’s approval. (Proverbs 11:13)
Be united in the disciplining of children. (Matthew 12:25). Make rules together. (Proverbs 6:20-23). Punish them together; agree together; present together; and enforce with children. (Matthew 6:24)
